James Grant
James began his career writing and performing in bands across the North of the UK, before spending over a decade collaborating with some of the country’s most accomplished producers, including Ross Orton, Al Groves, and Jolyon Thomas. In 2017, while studying at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, he made his solo production debut. Since then, he has quickly established himself as an exciting and innovative pop, hip-hop, and rock producer, known for his ability to spot and nurture emerging talent.
James’ productions have earned praise for their depth and versatility, with an innate ability to tap into an artist's sound and identity, while blending influences from a wide range of genres. His work is characterised by bold, distinctive productions brimming with character, emotion, and unforgettable hooks.
As a writer, James describes his approach as follows:
“I’m on a constant search for songs that are timeless… I am most interested in presenting a genuine story or feeling as beautifully and engagingly as possible. It’s about connection and catharsis in equal measures.”
James’ work has landed on numerous editorial playlists and amassed millions of streams. His productions have also garnered praise from Jack Saunders, Alyx Holcombe, Steve Lamacq, Abbie McCarthy, and John Kennedy, alongside major coverage in Rolling Stone, NME, Line of Best Fit, Notion, DIY, Dork, and many more.
In 2024, James continued to expand his creative output, working with Lost Romantic, Finches, Andy Goodwin, and producing tracks for Caledonia, Sterling Press, and Victoria Row.
